Haiku

In response to the sci-fi prompt at readwritepoem

A dark, metal cloud
hovers over desert land.
Still, no rain comes forth.

I have different ideas of what this means. How do you interpret it?

Lovely. It suggests maybe artificial rain, or else some kind of sinister black hovering thing -- I like the ambiguity.

Yeah, that's what I saw: a huge spacecraft hovering over a dry desert with no one left on earth.

I like the ambiguity!

You have described Delhi! All storm, the dusty kind, no rains!

BTW, post it to One Single Impression. Desrt is their current prompt. Take the link from my blog!

Now read my RWP post:

Very cool haiku. Definitely ambiguous -- you can assign the dark, metal cloud to signify almost anything. The poem actually makes me think of both the Iraq war as well as something more personal, like a situation one longs to improve or that doesn't have any momentum.
