The Great Tragedy

Why is writing an ordeal? When did it become a chore? Why do I turn it into something complex? When I was younger I couldn't wait to get to the page. I spent hours in school writing stories in Lisa Frank notebooks. I just sat down and wrote and the stories came to me. The process made me happy. Now it's like pulling teeth. Now I hold my head in my hands like I've just experienced a tragedy. I guess when you try too hard at anything it becomes complex. Why can't I stop trying and just DO???

Take a walk. Watch people. Go to a museum and look at the paintings. Watch the movie wonderboys. It will come. XO

sometimes our writing process comes to a halt and we need to try different things. maybe in trying these new things your writing will come back. Have a great weekend.

I have the same problem. I've started and stopped many novels. But I can never seem to finish writing one. I don't know what I'm missing, but I also remember writing incessantly as a child. There were lions jumping off waterfalls, wolves climbing trees, and heroines rescuing Kingdoms from raiders.

Now I write one paragraph and want to start over again. Yet nothing comes.
